Fort Javelin’s Personal Protection course focuses heavily on strategies for avoiding victimization, situational awareness, identifying & assessing threats, and providing options to defend against an attacker. This class is less about learning specialized fighting skills that can take many hours of training and continual practice to be effective, but more about developing a personal defense strategy and mindset before an attack. This course was developed, and is led, by certified security practitioners and incorporates Fort Javelin’s own “D3” defense strategy of Detect, Deter, & Defend. Anyone can have success in this course regardless of age, physical stature, or impairment.
We are living in unprecedented times involving civil unrest with an increase in crimes of opportunity. It has become more necessary for civilians to have a personal protection strategy in place at home and in public. Our course is comprised of two modules, and completing both Module I (Personal Protection) and Module II (Handgun Fundamentals) fulfills the requirements for obtaining an Arkansas Concealed Carry License. Module II is completely optional and we can assist you during Module I in determining if incorporating a handgun into your personal defense plan is right for you.
Module I Personal Protection: (3 hours) $50
Module II Handgun Fundamentals: (3 hours) $50
For participants who don’t already own or have access to a handgun Fort Javelin will provide one for the range activities at an additional cost. Our instructors will work with you on developing your shooting fundamentals during range exercises.
We are currently offering this class "on-demand" for group sizes between 4-8 people. If you are interested in setting up a Personal Protection class for a private group please email or call us to discuss options. Standard class day/times are as follows:
Module I: Friday evening 6:00p.m. - 9:00p.m.
Module II: Saturday afternoon 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.
